Hey, what's up everyone!
My name is Richard, but most of my friends just call me Rich. I am originally from Florida, but right now I am studying Physics at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Its right in the middle of the U.S. Not exactly the coolest place to live, but not the worst. I plan to apply to medical school in 2013, hopefully somewhere in Europe if thats possible for me. Ideally, I would love to live and work in Europe.
I am what some might call a bit out of the ordinary. I grew up in America, and I like it there, but I am an adventurer at heart. I am not satisfied just being in one place my whole life. I have to be out there, experiencing the world, living my dreams, making friends, savoring life and all of its details. America is a place for people who like to live "on the safe side" and not take any risks. I am a risk-taker by nature, and that's why I want something more than what I always grew up knowing. I want something different.
People ask me a lot why I came to Russia. I love it here. The language is something that I am working on, and its useful all over the world these days. I love learning languages in general. Of course, I had a great experience just visiting here for fun a few years ago and for this reason, I couldn't wait to come back. Do I like the girls?….this is another question I am asked quite often. Of course I do! They're all pretty cute :). I love culture too, and that's my real reason for coming here and staying for a semester. I plan to come back to visit a lot in my life, and I realize there is a lot to learn and be proud of in Russia. The literature, the architecture, the style….it's different from what I'm used to, and that's why I like.
In my free time, I like to do a lot of things. I read nowadays quite a bit when I have nothing else to do. This keeps me very busy and happy. I travel when I can afford to. I like to ride bikes and stay in good shape, eat healthy, etc. I love cars, especially fast and exotic cars. Its my passion. I also love helping people. That doesn't mean the same to me, though, that it does to everyone else. Some people would say giving money to the poor or helping an old person down a steep staircase is helping…. That's cool and all, but I want to go beyond that. I don't want to be that guy who just makes a difference for one person. I want to do more, help lots of people at once. This is my goal in life….to leave the world a better place than it was when I came into it. That is my definition of true success. And so I'm here doing a small part and helping people with their English. It's the least I can do. At least, for now. Im happy to help and meet and get to know all of you, and I hope you guys will all feel comfortable getting to know me. Im nice…I promise :)

My name is Acy, and I came to Moscow from the United States about 7 months ago to begin a master’s course at MGIMO-University. Since then, I’ve learned quite a bit about Russian culture and language, but I know that I still have a long way to go. I’m certain that working with LingvEd will be a rewarding way to learn more about Russia, meet interesting people, and share my native language with club participants in fun and interesting way.
At MGIMO, I study the history and evolution of political and economic systems, primarily in the post-Soviet states. I love discussing politics in general and foreign policy in particular. I’m also interested in business and entrepreneurship, and I could talk for days about the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Russia.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, soccer, running, ice-skating and weightlifting, but there’s nothing better than a relaxing dinner with friends after a long week of work. When I’m not tied up with school I love to explore different countries, cultures and cuisines (which is probably what landed me in Russia in the first place!).
I firmly believe that in order to learn a language well and speak it confidently, you must be able to practice regularly in a friendly and constructive environment. If you never use a language outside of the classroom, it will be difficult to put it to practical use in your personal life or career (another reason why I ended up in Moscow!).
I can’t wait to meet all the club members and I’m sure we will learn a lot from each other!
Известно, что пополнять словарный запас очень удобно с помощью чтения. Когда читаешь, возникает интерес: "Что именно стоит за тем словом, которое я не понял". Приходится переводить слово и запоминать его, потому что оно ещё встретится в продолжении текста.
Проблема состоит в том, что, не имея твёрдой основы из внушительного числа слов, чтение полноразмерных книг не приносит удовольствия. А, следуя нашей философии, пользы также от этого мало.
Здесь я дам один совет о том, что именно вам нужно читать, если:
- у вас не очень большой словарный запас и вы хотите расширить его;
- вы часто начинали читать книги, но сдавались через 10-15 страниц;
- у вас просто нет времени на чтение книг;
- чтение одной единственной книги на английском затягивается на долгие месяцы;
- статьи в журналах либо слишком сложные, либо слишком скучные, либо вообще непонятно, зачем они нужны.
Если на хотя бы одно из "если" возникла мысль "точно, это про меня", читаем далее - много времени не займёт.
Что делать, если читать хочется?
Читать! Но не всё подряд. Одним из самых оптимальных форматов для ежедневного чтения является...тематическая рассылка.
Почему именно рассылки?
- они достаточно быстро читаются в силу своего объема;
- они содержат в себе доступные слова для понимания и нужные для запоминания, поскольку одно из основных правил хорошей рассылки - говорить с читателем на его языке;
- они содержат 1-3 основных мысли, что не даст потерять фокус внимания во время чтения;;
- они сами просятся к прочтению, т.к. автоматически приходят на электронный ящик;
- если вдруг вы бросите читать письма, вы всегда можете продолжить читать их с любого нового - сюжет не потеряется.

Выберите то, что вам нравится и найдите в гугле сайт или несколько, которые соответствуют вашим интересам (что любите) и целям (что нужно). На сайте найдите окошко подписки (subscribe).
